As European-Americans, finding healthy ways of connecting to ancestral root cultures is one way to begin unwinding the oppressive forces of cultural erasure that have been in motion on this continent for centuries. In re-grounding identity through the study of traditional folk-arts, this work is committed to healing that disconnect. Traditional art forms constitute a visual language that helps orient us to community, place and seasonal changes. Through this constellation of relationships, we can begin reconstructing meaningful cultural contexts that will inform future generations in their own healing process for decades to come.
